This ephemera comes from collaborative sculptural performances in both Latvia and Italy with collaborators, Coral Lambert, Andreas Glaser, Susanne Roewer and Cynthia Handel. The performance “Flight of the Phoenix” was specifically designed to be performed with “Volcano Furnace” at the 7th International Conference on Contemporary Cast Iron Art. What remains from the performances, is a collection of photographs, video and other sculptural elements based on a performance-based work that combines elements of cast iron, story-telling, fire-dance, and ritual.
The wings and scepter were designed and created by Hager. The leather skirt was designed by Cynthia Handel and printed on by Hager.
